I believe the moment people broaden their perspectives and learn something happens when they are aware of 'Difference'. It can happen from difference of thinking, difference of culture or food, architecture and so on. These are things bellow that I was aware of differences.
While being representative of my club, I got faced with several occasions that I realized how different people are and think differently. As a representative, I had to coordinate with them. everything and learnt difference of thinking.
It was so enough to experience cultural difference while I was going to many countries. I've met many friends who have different nationality and ethnic and visited lots of cities that I'd never been. I've learnt cultural differences from this.
Internship in USA was definitely great working experience to me. I compared working condition and organization culture in USA with Korean's, which was helpful to decide my future job. Of course, I've learnt a lot by working and doing.
When I was freshman, me and some of my classmates established organization called, GL. I wondered why there is no club which has multiple purposes and does various activities. I wanted to do volunteering work, go rafting and studying together. For those reasons, GL was born. Our goal is to project and do whatever we want regardless of confined one goal.
Second year after GL was founded, I became representative of that club. The first thing that I did was volunteering activity. We planned to help children who have foreign parents to learn Korean tradition and be accustomed to Korea. But, to do this, we needed monetary support for their food or handouts kind of. To get sponsor, I looked for company and presented our project, finally got support from company called KT&G for an year.
It lasted for an year, while we were doing volunteering activities, we did 'Calender Making' by taking conceptual photography. Also, we did 'Interview Simulation' by role-playing as interviewee or interviewer.
It was not easy to prepare and perform all projects as a representative. But, I was trying to listen to opinions from my members and do with them. I just did works someone has to do like giving tasks and coordinating. I've learnt strong responsibility and how to cooperate with people.
Every year, my school runs academic learning program called GMBA with sister-hood universities in foreign countries. When I was third grade, I applied for the program, and got a chance to participate in as one of five.
The purpose of the program is to give students chance to take a lecture, experience culture and meet friends in foreign country, which is helpful to broaden their perspectives.
The cities I've visited were Le Havre in France, Magdeburg in Germany, Xiamen in China and Incheon in South Korea. I took a MBA class and carried out team project with my new friends.
Also, visiting sites where goods are on production gave me special lesson which has not got from school.
When off class, we spent time going and seeing nice places with diverse people there.
This experience almost for 2 months taught me how to adjust to the unknown.
Experience of visiting several countries made me long for working or living somewhere. Especially, I wanted to go New York in USA, because New York is the most famous city for fashion field that I want to work.
For internship in this field, I've studied design of graphics and web from lecture and by myself. Because of this endeavor, I got to work in New York as intern.
Living and working in other country was quite differenct from just visiting there. From house to food, I had to search and do everyting by myself. But, all experience about handling by myself made me strong and independent from my parents. I think that was the best lesson that I've learnt from this internship.
During my internship, it was great oppurtunity to practice and develop my skills and learn how company works and operates. As for my work, I mainly designed graphics and managed our website. Also, for Search Engine Optimization, I used some tools such as, Google analytics and Search console.
In addition to working experience, while having been in New York, I made lots of friends including coworkers, I think that experience of cultural exchange made me developed.
